The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has announced the schedule for Company Secretaries (CS) Examination June, 2013. The Cut-off Date for the receipt of enrollment application for appearing in June, 2013 examination with late fee is 9th April, 2013.
Accordingly, the next CS exam for Foundation Programme, Executive Programme and Professional Programme will be held from 2nd June, 2013 to 9th June, 2013 in 83 examination centres (Cities in India) and 1 overseas Centres (Dubai). Note that this is the last exam under CS Foundation (Old Syllabus) and thereafter i.e. from December, 2013 session, all students will be automatically switched over to the New Syllabus of CS Foundation Programme which will be based on Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) system.
Further, the Foundation Programme (New Syllabus- OMR based) examination has been restructured by the CS Institute with effect from June 2013 session and accordingly, the exam duration has been reduced from 120 minutes (2 Hours) to 90 minutes (1 and half hour) i.e. the Morning Session will be from 10.00 A.M. to 11.30 A.M. and the After-Noon Session will be from 1.30 P.M. to 3.00 P.M.
In other words, the Foundation Programme (New Syllabus) Examination will be arranged in a single day having two sessions comprising of two subjects in each session and the number of questions in each subject will be 50 having two marks each.
Amendments applicable for CS Exam June, 2013: According to MCA notifications number S.O. 447(E) and 653(E) the annual accounts for the financial year ending 31st March 2012 shall be prepared in accordance with the revised Schedule VI. Therefore, the New Schedule VI of the Companies Act, 1956 shall be applicable to June, 2013 examination and you may click here for the Supplement ( introduction, comparative analysis and format) on Revised Schedule VI prepared by CS Institute itself.
If you are going to appear for the paper of Tax Laws (Executive Programme) and Advanced Tax Laws and Practice (Professional Programme), June 2013 examination, the applicable Assessment year shall be 2013-14 (Previous Year 2012-13) for Direct Taxes portion and all changes made by the Finance Act, 2012 including all Circulars, Clarifications and Notifications, etc., issued by the CBDT and Central Government, which come into effect on or before six months prior to the date of the respective examinations shall be applicable for indirect taxes portion.
