Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), a Central University located in Vidya Vihar, Rae Bareli Road, Lucknow, has officially released its Admission Policy for Post Graduate (PG) programs for the academic session 2025-26. The policy, approved during the 82nd meeting of the Academic Council on June 17, 2025, sets the guidelines for admissions to various PG courses.

The admission process for all PG programs at BBAU will be conducted through the University’s SAMARTH portal, with admissions primarily based on the CUET (PG) score.

Key Admission Procedures and Dates:

Online Registration: Candidates are required to register on the BBAU’s portal and “lock” their preferred courses after the National Testing Agency (NTA) declares the CUET result.

Merit List Generation: Following the registration process, category/course-wise merit lists will be prepared based on the candidates’ CUET PG scores in applicable subjects. These lists will be uploaded on the University’s official website.

Tie-breaking Rules: In case of a tie in CUET PG scores, the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination will be considered. If a further tie persists, the candidate’s date of birth will be used to determine merit.

Phased Admissions: Admissions will occur in a phase-wise manner, with the first phase merit list comprising candidates equal to the number of seats advertised in the prospectus. Any remaining seats will be filled in subsequent phases.

Online Document Verification and Fee Submission: The Departmental Admission Committee (DAC) will conduct provisional online verification of documents. Upon successful verification, a challan for fee deposit will be generated. Fees must be submitted exclusively online through the SAMARTH portal. The list of candidates for whom challans have been generated will be notified on the university website by the DAC.

Physical Verification: All provisional admissions will be confirmed by the DAC after the physical verification of original documents when the provisionally admitted candidate reports to the department. The dates for physical document verification will be notified later on the University website.

Important Deadlines: Applicants must adhere to all deadlines, as no claims will be entertained after the scheduled date. The schedule for various phases of admission will be separately notified on the University website.

Reservation Policy Highlights:

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University follows a comprehensive reservation policy in accordance with Government of India (GOI), Ministry of Education (MOE), and UGC guidelines.

SC/ST Reservation: 50% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories in a 2:1 ratio. Seats are interchangeable between SC and ST if candidates are unavailable in a given category.

Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): Reservation for EWS (certificate valid for one year) is provided under the allotted seats, as per MHRD letters and guidelines from regulatory bodies like PCI, NCTE, BCI.

Physically Handicapped/Challenged (PwD): 5% of seats are reserved horizontally for candidates under this category. Selected candidates will be placed in their appropriate category (SC/ST/General).

Merit List Composition: The overall merit list will be prepared based on total merit, irrespective of category. The Unreserved (UR) category merit list will include students from all categories (UR/SC/ST/EWS/PwD) based on their merit.

Supernumerary Seats:

  • Available as per directives of relevant statutory bodies such as BCI, PCI, NCTE.
  • One supernumerary seat is available for the daughter/son of defense martyrs in PG courses (excluding those governed by BCI, PCI, NCTE & AICTE etc.).

Candidates admitted under paid seats may be upgraded to regular seats if vacancies arise after all admission phases, but no fee refund/adjustment will be considered for the admitted semester if the up-gradation occurs after the admission process is complete. Upgraded candidates will pay regular fees from the next semester onwards.
