1. Fashion Design
- NIFT Shillong: One of the top-performing institutes from the state, NIFT Shillong secured the 14th rank nationally in the Fashion Design category. It remains a premier destination for design education in the Northeast.
2. Management
- IIM Shillong: The prestigious business school ranked 38th in the Management category for 2025. While it remains the top management institute in the region, it saw a shift in ranking from its previous position of #26 in 2024.
3. Engineering
- NIT Meghalaya: Ranked 83rd in India for Engineering. It is the only engineering institute from Meghalaya to feature in the top 100 this year, although it experienced a slight drop from its 2024 rank of #68.
4. University Category
- North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU): The central university was placed in the 151–200 rank band. This marks a decline from its previous standing in the 101–150 band (2023) and top 100 positions in earlier years.
- University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM): A private university that has consistently maintained its presence in the 151–200 rank band for the fourth consecutive year, making it the only private university from the Northeast to be ranked.
Notable Exclusions for 2025
- St. Anthony’s College, Shillong: In previous years (like 2024), St. Anthony’s was often ranked among the top 200/300 colleges in India. However, for NIRF 2025, no college from Meghalaya secured a place in the top 300 “College” category list.
