Minimum Marks required for Rank Holder in CA Exams 2017

Declaration of a candidate of CA CPT (Common Proficiency Test), Intermediate (IPC) and Final examinations conducted by ICAI, as a rank holder in 2017.

Some students of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has got confused about the ranking procedure in CA Common Proficiency Test (CPT), Intermediate (IPC) and Final examinations. There are rumors about the marks required to become a rank holder in CPT Exam, IPCC Exam and Final Exams conducted by ICAI.

Accordingly, CA Institute has clarified the misconceptions arises among the various students and other stakeholders by advertisements and publicities about the practice of declaring a candidate as a rank holder in CA Examinations conducted by ICAI.

The Examination Department of CA Institute vide its announcement dated Wednesday, September 10, 2014 stated that following rules shall be applicable for declaration of a candidate as a rank holder of Common Proficiency Test (CPT), Intermediate (IPC) and Final examinations.

Declaration of Rank Holders by ICAI in CA Final Exams in 2017

Minimum marks required to secure a Rank in CA Final Examination in the year 2017. If you want to know the minimum marks required to become a rank holder in CA examinations, please read the following rules: –

Rank in CA Final:

ICAI recognizes meritorious candidates in CA Final examination, by ranking them on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by them in both the groups, on an all India basis, subject to his/her having secured a minimum of 55 percent marks, in one sitting without availing of any exemptions.

Further, there is no practice of declaring any candidate as having secured a rank beyond 50 in CA Final Examination. You may check the name of CA Final Toppers.

Whose Name shall be included in CA IPC in Merit List?

Rank in CA Intermediate:

A student who have secured a minimum of 55 percent marks in aggregate of both the groups in his/her CA Intermediate (IPC) Examinations in one sitting without availing of any exemptions shall be recognize meritorious candidate up to 50th rank. Accordingly, a candidate shall not be 51th Rank Holder in CA IPCC exams.

In other words, you have to obtain at least sixty percent marks in CA IPCC examination combining the marks secured in both groups in one sitting without availing of any exemption. There is no practice of declaring any student as having secured a rank beyond 50 in Intermediate (IPC) Examination.

Who shall be declared as a topper in CA CPT Examinations?

Discontinuation of Ranks in CA CPT Exam:

On first day of January 2016, the CA Institute announced that in terms of decision taken by the Examination Committee, declaration of ranks in respect of Common Proficiency Test(CPT), has been discontinued with effect from CPT held in December, 2015 onwards.

Till June 2015 term of CA CPT examination, ICAI recognized meritorious candidates in CPT, by ranking them on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by them in CPT up to 10th rank, on an all India basis, subject to his/her having secured a minimum of 60 percent marks.

In other words, a student who secured a minimum of 60 percent marks in aggregate in his/her CA CPT Examinations was recognized meritorious candidate up to 10th rank till June 2015. But, now there is no practice of declaring any candidate as having secured a rank on and after December 2015. You may check the name of toppers in CA CPT Exam.
