Update: With the introduction of the Company Secretaries (Amendment) Regulations, 2020, the Foundation Programme of CS Course was discontinued w.e.f. 3rd February 2020. Register for CSEET or get direct admission to CS Executive Programme.
If you want to appear in CSEET Nov 2023 term of examination, please submit admission form on or before 15th Oct 2023.
If you are 10+2 pass then you may submit admission form for register yourself in CS Foundation Course. Admission to CS Foundation course is open throughout the year. CS Foundation exams held twice a year in June and December.
CS Foundation registration last date is 31-March-2020 for appearing in Dec 2020 examination. Similarly, you have to submit CS Foundation course admission form on or before 30th September, 2020 for appearing in June 2021 term of examinations.
Foundation course is only for 8 months period. Therefore, the ICSI accept applications for admission to Foundation Programme 8 months before appearing in June/Dec Examination. If you are eligible, you may get direct admission to CS Executive Programme.
To become a Company Secretary in India, you have to join Company Secretaries Course. The student who would like to join the Course after 10+2 pass or equivalent has to undergo three stages to pursue the Company Secretaries Course i.e. Foundation Programme, Executive Programme and Professional Programme.
In ICSI Foundation course syllabus, there are only four subjects:
- Paper-1 Business Environment and Law,
- Paper-2 Business Management, Ethics & Entrepreneurship,
- Paper-3 Business Economics; and
- Paper-4 Fundamentals of Accounting and Auditing.
Admission to CS Foundation Programme
Before proceeding to registration form please make sure that, you are ready with the soft copy of the following documents mentioned here under:
- Photograph: You should ready with your soft copy of recent photo in .jpg or .png format. However, file size of student photo should be between 20kb to 50kb.
- Signature: A candidate must have signature image file that should not me more than 20kb.
- Birth Certificate: Date of Birth (DOB) Certificate of candidate. You may use your 10th pass certificate where your DOB has mentioned.
- 10+2 Class Proof: Keep your 12th pass certificate in PDF format. If you have just appeared for 10+2 class exam then your roll number is required.
- Caste Certificate: Required for all candidates except general.
- Identity Proof: Any one of the following identity proof is required: Aadhaar card; Driving license; Pan card; Passport; Ration card; Voter ID.
Online Registration Process for CS Foundation Programme
Step-by-step online process for register in CS Foundation Programme. In order to register for Foundation Programme, you may visit www.icsi.edu ICSI official website. Follow these simple processes to register yourself in CS Foundation Course.
Step-1: Visit official website ICSI.edu
First, visit www.icsi.edu official website of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and then go to online service for register in CS course.
Step-2: Keep Ready Required Documents
ICSI has its official portal smash.icsi.in for student’s online services. You have to keep scanned copy of required documents before proceeding to registration form for CS Foundation Programme. Select the mandatory documents that you have scanned:
- Photograph of the candidate
- Signature of the candidate
- DOB Certificate (10th pass certificate)
- Identity Proof (Aadhaar card/passport/voter ID /pan card/driving license/ration card)
- You need to have either qualification passed certificate or 12th roll number.
Now, click on Proceed To Registration button.
The registration form for ICSI CS Foundation Course is divided into 6 tabs. 1. Basic Details, Education Details, Source of Information, Document Details, Preview and Payment.
Step-3: Fill Basic Detail to Generate Unique Request ID
If you are first time user, select “New Registration”. In case, you have already filled up this application and payment is pending, then select “Incomplete Registration”.
You have to enter your basic details like Name, Qualification, Gender, Category, Date of Birth, Nationality, Mobile Number and Email Address etc.

Your request is in progress, and you will receive a confirmation mail/SMS shortly. Please proceed to next pages for registration.
Please note your unique ID number and use in case of unsuccessful payment to pay again. Thereafter, you may proceed to next page for registration.
Step-4: Fill Up Qualification Details
The candidates need to provide Education details including name of school or college and university along with passing year and main subjects. In this tab, you also need to select between Father and Spouse and provide name of your relatives.
Step-5: Fee Details
CS Foundation registration fee is ₹5600, which includes admission fee, education fee, e-learning fee and subscription to Chartered Secretary Journal. You may see the fee details here under:

Step-6: Upload Mandatory Documents
Now, the aspirants need to upload the scanned images of all required documents e.g. Passport size photograph, applicant signature and qualification/ Certificate documents.
After the candidates have successfully uploaded the mandatory documents, click on the “Next” button. A preview of the complete registration will appear on the screen. Check that the details provided in the registration form are correct or not. If you are satisfied with the details, then click on “Confirm Application” button after previewing.
Step-7: Make Payment and Generate Transaction ID
To pay the fee, select the mode of payment, enter the required details and pay the necessary amount of fee. On Successful Payment, you will be registered in CS Foundation Programme and the same will be intimated through Email/SMS on registered email id/mobile number.
Thereafter, the CS Institute would verify your uploaded documents. After verification, your application shall be approved by the ICSI if you fulfill the eligibility criteria.
Note that the registration for Foundation Programme is valid only for three years. After expiry of 3 years, you may renew your registration for another three years.
