MAH MBA CAP 2025 Merit List Out: Your Gateway to Maharashtra’s Top B-Schools

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra, is set to release the provisional merit list for MAH MBA CAP 2025 tomorrow, July 18, 2025, marking a crucial step for thousands of MBA/MMS aspirants seeking admission to top management institutes across the state. This provisional list will be accessible on the official website, cetcell.mahacet.org.

Following the provisional list, candidates will have a window to submit grievances, if any, between July 19 to July 21, 2025. The much-awaited final merit list for Maharashtra State/All India candidates will then be displayed on July 24, 2025.

How is the MAH MBA CAP Merit List Calculated?

The MAH MBA CAP merit list is prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the MAH MBA CET entrance exam or, for All India Candidates, valid scores from other national-level exams like CAT, CMAT, XAT, ATMA, MAT, or GMAT.

Key factors in merit list calculation:

  • Normalized Score (Percentile): Since the MAH MBA CET exam is conducted in multiple shifts and days, a normalization process is applied to ensure fairness across all sessions. This converts raw scores into a percentile, calculated up to seven decimal places, which then serves as the Normalized Score.
  • The formula for percentile score calculation is:
  • 100×Total number of candidates in the session /No. of candidates in a session with raw score ≤the candidate’s score
  • Tie-Breaking Criteria: In case of a tie in the percentile scores, the following hierarchy is generally followed for Maharashtra State Candidates:
    1. Higher percentage of marks in HSC (Class 12) or Diploma.
    2. Higher percentage of marks in SSC (Class 10).
    3. Higher marks in the Science subject in SSC.
    4. Higher marks in the Mathematics subject in SSC.
    5. Higher marks in English in SSC.

Understanding the Normalization Process

The normalization process is crucial to account for variations in difficulty levels across different exam shifts. It ensures that no candidate is unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged due to the specific session they appeared in. The process involves:

  1. Distribution of Candidates: Candidates from different shifts are distributed to ensure an approximately equal number in each session for statistical analysis.
  2. Session-wise Score Preparation: Raw scores are first calculated for each session.
  3. Percentile Calculation: The percentile score is then calculated for each candidate within their session, reflecting their relative performance.
  4. Compilation of Percentiles: All normalized percentile scores are then compiled to create the overall merit list.
