WB Primary Teacher Eligibility Criteria 2025

Only candidates who have already passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the WBBPE are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification (Any One)

A candidate must possess one of the following qualifications along with having passed the WBBPE TET:

• Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).
• Higher Secondary with 45% marks + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE Regulations, 2002).
• Higher Secondary with 50% marks + 4-year B.El.Ed. (Bachelor of Elementary Education).
• Higher Secondary with 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
• Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 20 years
• Maximum Age: 40 years
• Age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC (A & B), EC (Exempted Category), Ex-Servicemen, PwD (Persons with Disabilities), and Para Teachers as per government rules.

A total of 13,421 vacancies have been announced. Candidates are required to mention their preferred district(s) during the online application process.

The application process is entirely online. Candidates must have all required documents (scanned photograph, signature, qualification documents, Aadhar Card, etc.) ready before applying.

6. Upload the required scanned documents and photo/signature in the prescribed format (5 Kb to 100 Kb, JPG/JPEG/GIF/PNG format).

The selection of candidates for the Assistant Teacher post will be based on a merit list derived from an aggregate score of 100 marks, evaluated as follows:
