ICSI SEFT Scholarship 2023-24: Get refund of full amount of registration fee, education fee, exemption fee, e-learning fee for CSEET, CS Executive and Professional Course.

The Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) had approved creation of ICSI Students Education Fund Trust (SEFT) in the year 2008. It is used to provide financial assistance for CS students.

ICSI students shall apply for refund of CSEET Registration Fee on the basis of percentage of marks scored in Class XII or Graduation and they may continue to avail the benefits for subsequent stages of CS Course on passing the examinations of respective stages in the first attempt and first available opportunity.

If you are pursuing CS course and scores good marks in prescribed exams then you may claim your 100% scholarship from ICSI. You will be refunded any fee paid to ICSI including registration, education, exemption and exam fee etc.

Accordingly, the students of CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET), CS Executive Programme and CS Professional Programme shall avail the benefit of ICSI SEFT.

ICSI SEFT 2023-2024: 100% Scholarship to CS Students

Objectives of SEFT

  1. To financially assist the economically backward students as part of its social responsibility.
  2. To promote/ encourage academically bright students to attract the best available talent to the profession.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who shall be starting the CS Course from CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) fulfilling the relevant eligibility criteria given above are eligible to apply for financial assistance under the Scheme.

The eligibility criteria of ICSI SEFT has now been amended with effect from 1st July, 2020. Under ICSI SEFT students are divided into two categories viz. Economically Backward Students and Academically Bright Students.

A) Economically Backward Students

In this category, the following students are covered:

  1. Family Income is up to ₹3 Lakhs per annum; and
  2. Good academic records i.e.
    • Minimum 65% Marks (or equivalent CGPA) in Senior Secondary (Class XII) Stages; or
    • Minimum 60% Marks (or equivalent CGPA) in Bachelor Degree Stage

That means you are eligible for ICSI SEFT 100% scholarship, if your family income is not more than ₹25,000 per month and you scored at least 65% marks in 12th Class or minimum 60% marks in graduation.

Did you know? The income limit has been revised to ₹3,00,000 from ₹1,00,000 effective from 1st July, 2020. Family income means your income and income of your parents. CGPA full form is Cumulative Grade Point Average.

B) Academically Bright Students

In this category, there is no any limit on family income of CS students. The following company secretary students falls under this category:

  1. Good academic records i.e.
    • Minimum 85% Marks (or equivalent CGPA) in Senior Secondary (Class XII) Stages; or
    • Minimum 70% Marks in Bachelor Degree Stage
  2. Family Income: Does Not matter.

Therefore, you are eligible for ICSI SEFT 100% scholarship, if you scored at least 85% marks in 12th Class or minimum 70% marks in graduation degree irrespective of your family income.

However, any conditions contained under SEFT guidelines may be relaxed by the Executive Committee of the Council of the ICSI, if needed.

Benefit of ICSI SEFT

Benefit to CSEET Students: Eligible Students under the guidelines of ICSI SEFT Scheme shall be refunded the full amount of the registration fee paid by them for CSEET, after they have passed the CSEET.

Benefit to CS Executive Students: They would be further refunded the Registration Fee, Education Fee, Exemption Fee, e-learning fee and other fees paid by them for registration to the Executive Programme, if they have taken registration in Executive Program within stipulated cut-off date of registration as per first available opportunity applicable to them vis-à-vis their date of passing of CSEET.

CS Executive students would also be refunded CS Executive Exam fees paid by them for CS Executive Program, if they have passed exam (of respective modules) in first attempt in first available opportunity vis-à-vis their date of registration in Executive Program.

Benefits to CS Professional Students: Students passing the Executive Programme at the first attempt and first available opportunity would be further refunded the Registration Fee, Education Fee, Exemption Fee, e-learning fee and other fees paid by them for registration to the Professional Programme, if they have taken admission in Professional Program within stipulated cut-off date of registration as per first available opportunity vis-à-vis their date of passing of Executive program.

CS Professional students would also be refunded CS Professional Exam fees paid by them for Professional Program, if they have passed exam (of respective modules) in first available opportunity vis-à-vis their date of registration in Professional Program.

How to Apply for Scholarship under CSEFT Scheme

The students will have to pay the full fees firstly pending consideration of their eligibility under the Scheme. Eligible students of ICSI shall apply for seeking financial grant/ assistance under ICSI SEFT in prescribed application form. If his/her application is approved, the fees paid by him/her shall be refunded.

ICSI has prescribed the application form to claim your refund under SEFT Scheme. Students desirous may download SEFT Application form and send it to ICSI.

Fill up the application form with required information, affix your recent colored passport sized photograph, sign and send it to the address mentioned below:

  11. Whether availing Financial Assistance from any other sources, if yes.

Documents Required

The SEFT application form must be sent along with all supporting documents. You have to enclose the following documents:

  1. Copies of all relevant documents including certificate and marksheets duly attested by a Gazetted Officer/ or Member of ICSI.
  2. Original Income Certificate (Only for Economically Backward Students – See eligibility criteria above under Category-A)

The original Income Certificate issued by the competent authority of the State / Central Government should be submitted. Attested photocopy of income certificate is not acceptable. Affidavit issued by Notary is also not acceptable.

If income certificate is prepared in any language other than Hindi or English, the student concerned is also required to send the attested copy of its “English Translation” of the same along with original income certificate.

Time Limit for Application

Students aspiring to avail financial assistance under ICSI SEFT are required to submit the application within 6 months from the date of passing CSEET or within 6 months from the date of registration to CS Executive/ Professional Programme, as the case may be.

Applications received at CS Institute after the expiry of the six months period shall not be entertained.

Note that the students who have been granted any other Scholarship/ Assistance by the CS Institute through other Schemes of ICSI like Merit Scholarship, Merit-cum-Means Assistance Scheme or any other Scheme, would only be eligible for the shortfall in the total financial assistance, if any, under ICSI SEFT Scheme.
