Eligibility Criteria for IREL Apprentice Jobs

Educational qualification

Candidates who have acquired qualification through Distance Learning, Part-Time or Correspondence mode are not eligible.

Not eligible (over-qualified candidates)

  • Candidates having higher/professional qualifications like ME/M.Tech, MCA, MBA, M.Sc, MA, M.Com, CA/ICWA, PhD, LL.B (except for AAO(P)) should not apply, as they possess higher than the prescribed induction qualification.
  • Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training in any Government, Public Sector or Private Industrial organization under the Apprentices Act are not eligible.

Reservation, Stipend and Training Conditions

  • Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS and PwD will be as per the State of Kerala rules and Government guidelines.
  • Stipend will be paid as per Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and as notified by the Government from time to time.
  • Duration of apprenticeship will be as per the trade-wise table (mostly 1 year, 1½ years for AAO(P)).
  • No other financial assistance or benefits will be provided by IREL during the apprenticeship period.

Selection Process – How Candidates Are Shortlisted

Merit-based shortlisting

  • Only candidates fulfilling educational qualification, marks, age and other criteria will be considered.
  • Selection is based on a merit list prepared from marks obtained in the specified qualification.
  • In case of tie in marks:
    • First, candidate with higher marks in qualification is preferred.
    • If still tied, candidate older in date of birth gets preference.

Priority order for selection

The following priority sequence will be followed while preparing the merit list:
