NEET PG 2025 Exam Date: August 3, 2025

The Supreme Court has allowed the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to reschedule the NEET PG 2025 exam to August 3, 2025. This examination will be conducted in a single shift. Previously, the exam was scheduled for June 15, 2025, but was postponed to ensure a single shift and address logistical concerns.

Application Window: Closed on May 7, 2025

The application process for NEET PG 2025 commenced on April 17, 2025, and concluded on May 7, 2025 (till 11:55 PM). Candidates who intend to appear for the exam should have completed their registration and application submission within this period.

While the exam date is now confirmed, here’s a recap of other important dates and aspects related to NEET PG 2025:

  • Application Form Release: April 17, 2025 (3 PM Onwards)
  • Last Date for Application Submission: May 7, 2025 (Till 11:55 PM)
  • Edit Window for All Payment Success Applications: May 9 to May 13, 2025
  • Pre-Final Edit Window to Rectify Deficient/Incorrect Images: May 17 to May 21, 2025, and May 24 to May 26, 2025
  • Informing the Test City to Candidates: June 2, 2025
  • Cut-off date for completion of internship for eligibility: July 31, 2025

Eligibility Criteria (Highlights):

Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements to appear for NEET PG 2025. Key criteria include:

  • Possession of an MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized by the Indian Medical Council Act 1956.
  • Completion of a one-year compulsory rotating internship on or before July 31, 2025.
  • Provisional or permanent registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or a State Medical Council (SMC).
  • Foreign Medical Graduates must have qualified for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).
  • There is no specified upper age limit or a maximum number of attempts for NEET PG.

Exam Pattern (Expected to remain consistent):

NEET PG is a computer-based test (CBT) conducted in English only.

  • Total Questions: 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Duration: 3 hours and 30 minutes (210 minutes).
  • Marking Scheme:
    • +4 marks for every correct answer.
    • -1 mark for every incorrect answer (negative marking applies).
    • No marks deducted for unanswered questions.
  • Sections: The paper is generally divided into five time-bound sections, with each section typically comprising 40 questions and allotted 42 minutes. Candidates must complete questions in a section before moving to the next.

Syllabus:

The NEET PG syllabus is based on the subjects and topics taught during the MBBS curriculum. It is broadly divided into three phases:

  • Pre-clinical Subjects: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry.
  • Para-clinical Subjects: Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Social and Preventive Medicine (Community Medicine).
  • Clinical Subjects: General Medicine (including Dermatology, Venereology, and Psychiatry), General Surgery (including Orthopaedics, Anaesthesia, and Radiodiagnosis), Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, ENT, and Ophthalmology.

Counselling Process:

The NEET PG counselling process is conducted for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses across India.

All India Quota (AIQ): The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts counselling for 50% AIQ seats in government medical colleges (excluding Jammu & Kashmir), 100% seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities (like AMU, BHU, Delhi University), AFMS Institutions, and ESIC medical colleges.

State Quota: Respective state counselling authorities manage the remaining 50% of state quota seats in government medical colleges and 100% seats in private medical colleges within the state.

The counselling involves online registration, fee payment, choice filling and locking, seat allotment based on rank and preferences, and reporting to the allotted college for document verification and admission.
