Special Provisions in SSC CGL 2025

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has made several inclusive and supportive provisions in the SSC CGL 2025 notification to ensure fair opportunities and smooth participation for all categories of candidates.

PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) Provisions

Eligibility for Scribe: PwBD candidates with specific disabilities such as blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected), and cerebral palsy are allowed to use a scribe, if desired.

Scribe for Other PwBD Categories: Other PwBD candidates may also avail a scribe by submitting a valid medical certificate as per Annexure-I, confirming that the scribe is essential for writing the exam.

Disability Below 40%: Even candidates with disabilities less than 40% can avail scribe and compensatory time upon certification as per Annexure-IA.

Compensatory Time: Eligible candidates using a scribe or with certified writing difficulty will receive 20 minutes extra per hour of examination.

Scribe Registration Process: Candidates choosing their own scribe must ensure the scribe completes One-Time Registration (OTR) and Aadhaar authentication on SSC’s website. The scribe must be less qualified than the candidate.

Exemption from DEST: PwBD-OH candidates can be exempted from the Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) if declared permanently unfit for typing by a certified government medical authority.

Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Provisions

Reservation in Group ‘C’ Posts: Reservation is available only for Group ‘C’ posts, not for Group ‘B’.

Eligibility for ESM Status: Only candidates who have already acquired ex-serviceman status or can provide documentary proof of completing the required military service within one year of application closure (i.e., by 04 July 2026) are eligible.

Call-up Service Period: This is treated as part of the military service and is counted for age relaxation purposes.

Aadhaar-Based Authentication

Simplified Application: Candidates opting for Aadhaar-based authentication don’t need to upload pre-existing photographs or carry photo ID proof to the exam center. The live photo taken during the application is sufficient.

No Rejection on Photo/Signature Quality: Applications through Aadhaar authentication are not rejected even if the uploaded photograph or signature is slightly off from standard requirements.

OBC Reservation Guidelines

OBC candidates must ensure they are not from the creamy layer on the closing date of application. Valid OBC certificate as per Annexure-VIII must be presented when asked by User Departments.
